Here is why East Strand is one of Northern Irelands best beach breaks
East strand Is one of Northern Irelands most consistent beach breaks, it is also the most sheltered spot on the North Coast. It offers a perfect wave for learning to surf during summer and turns into "East The Beast" from Autumn through to spring for more experienced surfers. During the winter months it starts to waken up! Providing some of the best big waves in Northern Ireland. It is the most sheltered spot on the coast and can hold a big swell.

THE BEST SURF CONDITIONS FOR EAST STRAND

The ideal swell direction is from the northwest and offshore winds are from the southwest with some shelter here from east winds. It offers both left and right hand waves with peaks forming all down the beach. It is surfable at all stages of the tide, It gets very hollow on low tide!

TROGGS SURF SCHOOL - EAST STRAND WATER SPORTS CENTRE
We operate from East Strand year round. Throughout the summer months we get perfect beginner waves which allow you to progress fast and also some beautiful calm days perfect for learning to paddle board. The Surf becomes more consistent from Autumn through to Spring! However a thick winter wetsuit, boots, hoods and gloves are needed to brave the 10 degree water temperatures.

East Strand also known as Curran Strand stretches 2.5kms to its neighbouring beach Whiterocks. It is a 'Blue flag beach' with views of the skerries islands and the Giants Causeway. The RNLI life guards are patrolling the beach everyday between 11am and 7pm from 21st June until the 7th September, keeping everyone safe!
